Softball Manitoba, the provincial governing body for the sport of softball, is looking for a passionate and creative individual to join our team as a Social Media Coordinator. If you're enthusiastic about softball and social media and want to be part of promoting and growing the softball community in Manitoba, we want to hear from you!

 

Softball Manitoba’s Social Media Coordinator will be a part-time term position. The coordinator will report to the executive director and support the board member responsible for communications to help create and execute Softball Manitoba’s social media strategy. The coordinator is responsible for upholding Softball Manitoba’s brand standards through written and visual communication for its programs and events.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Content Creation
    • create informative and engaging content for Softball Manitoba’s website (https://www.softball.mb.ca) and social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
    • create visually appealing graphics and short videos to accompany social posts and enhance user engagement
  • Social Media Management:
    • maintain and evolve Softball Manitoba’s social media presence
    • monitor and professionally respond to comments, messages and mentions on social media channels
    • maintain a consistent brand voice and messaging across all platforms
  • Community Engagement:
    • foster a sense of community among followers, encouraging user-generated content, discussions and interactions
    • identify and engage with influencers and partners within Manitoba’s softball community
  • Competition Coverage:
    • Post updates and share content and results during Softball Manitoba-affiliated events
    • Capture photos of players and teams for web and social media use
  • Assisting Softball Manitoba office staff with additional duties as required

 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • a genuine interest in and knowledge of the sport of softball
  • a desire to express your creativity by creating original content for digital platforms
  • strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrated organizational skills
  • knowledge and experience with major social media applications and the ability to adapt content for different platforms
  • the ability to take high-quality smartphone photos and videos
  • familiarity with Canva or other design software is considered an asset
  • the successful candidate must have their own vehicle, a valid driver’s licence, and a smartphone with camera capabilities
  • must be willing and able to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends) during the 2024 softball season

 

WORK SCHEDULE

15 hours per week (approximately 60 hours per month)

 

COMPENSATION

$1,000 month plus expenses** (May-August 2024)

 

**Softball Manitoba will subsidize phone plan costs and relevant charges during the time of hire. Softball Manitoba will also cover mileage, meals and accommodations, if required, for any approved travel within the province.
